Released in late February, the Windows 8 Consumer Preview is live, ready and waiting for anybody to download it and install to sample the beauty of the Metro UI and gain an appreciation as to how this might work on a tablet and whether it is a usable interface for a mouse-controlled device.

Paul Thurrott is one of my favorite authors and podcasters.  I donwloaded the Windows 8 Consumer Preview last night and will be testing it using VMWare on the Mac and VirtualBox on the PC.

I have tried so many note taking applications and for Windows users that already have OneNote it’s a very powerful piece of software.  Since I work on MAc and Linux as well, I’ve been recommending EverNote because it is (1) free and (2) it runs on everything…Mac/Windows/Linux/Android/iOS.  As a Microsoft Certified Professional and Office expert I love OneNote and am glad to see this for the iPad.

Microsoft on Tuesday confirmed that it will release a public beta of Windows 8 in late February, 2012.

The company broke the news at a San Francisco developers event Tuesday, where Antoine Leblond, vice president of Windows Web services, touted Windows Store, the app market that will be the sole distribution channel for applications designed to run in Windows 8’s new “Metro” interface.

Microsoft is reportedly on track to release Windows 8 on a similar time frame to Windows 7, with the first beta of the new OS appearing in early 2012. The software giant has not said officially when it will release Windows 8 or even when a beta version might appear. But two sources claim a Windows 8 beta release is coming in the next few months.
